Arrr, It’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day

And just when you thought the world couldn’t get any stranger. Its September the 19th again so that means the Internet’s a buzz with pirates sayings such as Ahoy!, Shiver me timbers! and Arrr!. Since today is officially known by internet users as ‘International talk like a pirate day’ (ITLAPD), it all started back in 1995 as an inside joke between friends, John Baur & Mark Summers but it wasn’t until they submitted the idea about their invented holiday to humour columnist Dave Barry in 2002. that it spiralled out of control and became the global phenomenon it is today.

If your having a little trouble talking like a pirate, check out the official talk like a pirate day website over at talklikeapirate.com. Just remember not to go over board at work today, or they might just fire you like they did the office pirate, enjoy :)

Office Pirate – Arrr!

Heroes Season 2

Heroes is back for its second season this month, set to air on the 24th on NBC over in America that’s only 16 days from now, still no word on when season 2 will be airing over here in the UK. But it’s probably not going to be until next year now. since the BBC have managed to outbid the Sci-Fi channel & won the first run rights for Season 2, even though they haven’t finished showing the first season yet. which is annoying since I’ve already watched the entire first season on the Sci-Fi channel :(

Anyway the first episode is set four months after the events that took place at the end of season one, & from the trailer that I’ve posted below it looks like both Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) & Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) survived the explosion, in the trailer you see Nathan’s reflection in a broken mirror for a split second, & towards the end you see a glimpse of Peter. you also see Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) & Sylar (Zachary Quinto) but we all knew Sylar would be back for season 2, after all you can’t keep a good villain down. The only character not seen in the trailer that had been fatally wounded or presumed dead at the end of season one, was D.L. Hawkins (Leonard Roberts) looks like the rumors floating around the Internet about this characters demise could be true.

Good news, everyone!

How Superman Should Have Ended

Browsing youtube again, I came across this funny spoof on the original superman movie. The way it should have ended seems to make more sense than the original ending did – for one he stops both rockets before they hit their targets, after all he is Superman. Even Batman makes an appearance. Classic.

Ryan vs Dorkman 2 Excellent Fan Made Lightsaber Battle

So if your only reason for watching the last 3 Star Wars films were for the lightsaber battles, then your in luck. The creators of Ryan vs Dorkman have just recently released the sequel, ‘Ryan vs Dorkman 2′. This is just as fantastic as the first film with the same non-stop lightsaber action but with better interaction with the surroundings.

Created by Ryan Wieber and Michael ‘Dorkman’ Scott, the original movie was produced for a lightsaber duel choreography contest. RVD2 was released on March 1, four years to the day after the original Ryan vs. Dorkman. Check out the official website for a higher resolution video.

Johnny Five assembled from LEGO Mindstorms NXT parts

Johnny five has to be one of the coolest robots of all time first appearing in the movie Short Circuit in 1986 then again in Short Circuit 2 in 1988. so when I saw this excellent replica of number five I had to post it, created by Daniele Benedettelli using LEGO Mindstorms NXT parts, named the JohnNXT.

I cant believe how neat this is the way it moves, stands & even its shoulder Lazar moves in the same way minus the deadly Lazar beam. The only thing it doesn’t have is the on-board radio remote control, so no taking over small air crafts just yet. Daniele Benedettelli did some dimensional study on the real Johnny Five in order to obtain the most precise replica possible.

Macquarium G4 Cube

Mac Aquarium

For those of you that haven’t heard of A macquarium before its just an aquarium made from the shell of an Apple Macintosh computer. This has to be one of the coolest fish tanks I’ve seen, made from an old 450mhz Power Mac G4 Cube.

For more information on this particular macquarium check out this website.

Terminator Tea 2

Thought I would post this it reminds me of someone I know and his never ending quest for tea.

A Dog’s Breakfast

David Hewlett probably best know as “Rodney McKay” (the best character) from the TV series Stargate Atlantis has Written/Directed and Stared in A Dog’s Breakfast I only found out about this a few weeks ago. From the trailer (below) and a few other bits and pieces I’ve seen around the web it looks pretty good. The only way to see this film for now is to request a screening hopefully not to long and it will end up on DVD.

From the official website: A Dog’s Breakfast If you’ve never been good at anything in your life, why would murder be any different?

Patrick has always had a somewhat combative relationship with his little sister Marilyn. But when she brings home her new sci-fi-soap star fianc Ryan, it’s all out war. Every family has a few skeletons in the closet; A Dog’s Breakfast is the nightmarishly funny mess Patrick makes when he tries to add another to his.
