I am sure it happens to every superhero every once in a while. You’re out fighting the forces of evil, and after tying up that last bad guy you just happen to notice you’re just across the street from a supermarket and you know if you don’t just nip across and get those needed items you’ll only have to go out and do it tomorrow; or in Batman’s case, send Alfred out. Clearly Batman’s too much of a nice a guy to send Alfred out just for milk and toilet paper. Classic video. Enjoy

Once again it’s time to upgrade your defences, well only if your a user of IPCop. And why wouldn’t you be, its very configurable has a nice clean interface and its really simple to use. As always you can download IPCop form the usual place either as an update from previous 1.4.x versions or as a ready to go ISO for a clean install.
From the IPcop website: Some changes have been introduced since rc2 related to NTP (fix ntp user with ntpdate), Squid upgraded to 2.6.STABLE17, timezone upgraded to tzdata2007i, Snort rules permissions again.
The update has been split into two part to accommodate free space limitation related to the numerous new packages added since the recent releases. A way to recover some free spaces has been created, allowing to select one of the two ‘kernel type’ installed. Most of the work has been made on bug fixes and update interface changes.

Good news everyone! Futurama has officially returned this week with its direct-to-DVD movie, which was released over in the US on Tuesday November 27th. Unfortunately, there is no release date set for the UK as of yet - which is annoying considering this is a monumental event and I am sure most, if not all, Futurama fans would agree: something this big should have been released globally, not just in the US.
The good news is, I’ve been reading a lot of good reviews on the film and thankfully it sounds like it’s way better than the Simpson’s movie which as I stated earlier here, seemed to tie things up a little to quickly towards the end. So far from what I’ve read it sounds like the Futurama movie doesn’t do that at all and actually has a very good, structured plot to go with it.
I have to say, Futurama is my favourite out of the two shows; and if the Futurama movie didn’t do so well, I think I would start to lose faith in Matt Groening. The Simpson’s is good, don’t get me wrong, I am just more of a sci-fi geek.
The only bad thing I’ve actually heard is that a lot of the humour is based on established themes and inside-jokes, so someone not familiar with the Futurama universe might not pick up on some of the jokes, but for me a Futurama addict, this doesn’t seem like a bad thing at all, as it will make it just that much more enjoyable.
The iPhone is now available in the UK, and officially went on sale from 6pm on Friday the 9th of November, but so far the release of the iPhone over here has been pretty calm and has been nothing like it was in the US. There have been reports of Apple fanatics queuing up on the 9th to be the first to get their hands on the iPhone, but compared to the US release these numbers were extremely small.
I thought that by the weekend it would have kicked off, but there still doesn’t seem to be any visible signs of demand for the phone; since you can walk into any store selling the iPhone and take a look at it without being hindered by large groups of people trying to do the same. Maybe it’s the fact that we have so many Carphone Warehouses and O2 stores scattered throughout the UK that it’s helped to distribute the demand a lot better than the US did. Still, I was expecting larger queues and pretty much chaos everywhere the iPhone is being sold, but that’s just not the case. A number of other sites here & here are describing the same lack of enthusiasm about the iPhones release, even The Register is reporting that the iPhone has flopped on its first day in the UK.
Unfortunately for Apple & O2 I too will be contributing to the low demand as I am happy with my current phone: it may not be cutting edge but it suites me just fine. I am more interested in the iPod touch than the iPhone. The only thing that is holding me back from buying one is the drive size; but I’m guessing it will not be that long until Apple release one with a larger capacity.
Finally the Gimp (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) developers have released version 2.4 of the popular graphics editor. The new version has quite a few improvements over 2.2. In order to get an overview of what’s been changed since 2.2, check out the Release Notes over on the Gimp website. The Gimp site design has also been updated with a brand new look to celebrate the release, which was a bit of a shock at first. If you haven’t visited the site for a while you’ll see what I mean when you do.
The Gimp is probably one of greatest Open Source graphic design tools around and most that have used it would agree that it’s just as good Adobe Photoshop. Still it may be lacking a few features that Photoshop has, But unlike Adobe Photoshop, the Gimp is 100% free to download and use. It also works for every platform: Linux, Mac & Windows. so there’s no excuse not to use it.
To get an Idea of how powerful the Gimp can be check out some of the tutorials over on the Gimp website or better yet check out my sister’s site, skyerosetti.co.uk. Most of her art is produced with the Gimp and it looks fantastic ![]()
As a kid I had a Rubik’s cube, but after getting frustrated with it I broke it after peeling all of the coloured stickers off and sticking them back on in the right order, after that it wasn’t the same again, the glue never really stuck properly and one by one I lost a coloured sticker until I was eventually left with only half a coloured Rubik’s cube. I’m not exactly sure what happened to it after that but I guess I threw it out.
I am sure I wasn’t the only kid back then to get frustrated by it & try the same tactic, but a select few clearly never gave up trying, and practiced for hours upon hours to become a true Rubik’s cube master. enjoy

And just when you thought the world couldn’t get any stranger. Its September the 19th again so that means the Internet’s a buzz with pirates sayings such as Ahoy!, Shiver me timbers! and Arrr!. Since today is officially known by internet users as ‘International talk like a pirate day’ (ITLAPD), it all started back in 1995 as an inside joke between friends, John Baur & Mark Summers but it wasn’t until they submitted the idea about their invented holiday to humour columnist Dave Barry in 2002. that it spiralled out of control and became the global phenomenon it is today.
If your having a little trouble talking like a pirate, check out the official talk like a pirate day website over at talklikeapirate.com. Just remember not to go over board at work today, or they might just fire you like they did the office pirate, enjoy

I don’t really login to Google’s Webmaster Tools as often as I used to after discovering Google Analytics but I did happen to login today to find that they have recently updated it with a few improvements. I am still not sure whether I like the new navigation system yet, but they did introduce a cool new feature called ‘Subscriber Stats’, which displays the number of users who have subscribed to your feeds using google services such as Google Reader, Orkut and iGoogle. If you are interested, there is more information on the update over on the google webmaster blog.
Heroes is back for its second season this month, set to air on the 24th on NBC over in America that’s only 16 days from now, still no word on when season 2 will be airing over here in the UK. But it’s probably not going to be until next year now. since the BBC have managed to outbid the Sci-Fi channel & won the first run rights for Season 2, even though they haven’t finished showing the first season yet. which is annoying since I’ve already watched the entire first season on the Sci-Fi channel
Anyway the first episode is set four months after the events that took place at the end of season one, & from the trailer that I’ve posted below it looks like both Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) & Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) survived the explosion, in the trailer you see Nathan’s reflection in a broken mirror for a split second, & towards the end you see a glimpse of Peter. you also see Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) & Sylar (Zachary Quinto) but we all knew Sylar would be back for season 2, after all you can’t keep a good villain down. The only character not seen in the trailer that had been fatally wounded or presumed dead at the end of season one, was D.L. Hawkins (Leonard Roberts) looks like the rumors floating around the Internet about this characters demise could be true.
